Jayco developed a custom membrane switch on a rigid PCB with components embedded on the other side. The device had to be sealed against water ingress yet allow good audio transmission to and from the embedded microphone and speaker. Jayco’s novel packaging solution got the job done and achieved a 20% reduction in size over previous designs.
