Application - Control Panel for Electronic Flight Bag

Project details - We were commissioned to make control panels for a new generation of EFBs that were to be smarter, thinner and lighter than their predecessors, with increased reliability and stringent lighting specifications. We designed a machined aluminum bezel with laser etched silicone rubber keypad over stainless steel domes, and redundant SMT LEDs back-lighting on a gold PCB. Total thickness of assembly - less than 0.250" thick. This product won "Best Innovation Design" by the American Electronics Association at their annual High-Tech Innovation Awards.
